5 Signs Your Bedliner Needs Replacing

Drop-in bedliners get the job done for a few years, but they don’t last forever. If your truck bed is showing any of these signs, it’s time to consider a permanent spray-on replacement.

1. Cracks Along the Edges

Plastic liners expand and contract with temperature changes. Over two or three summers in direct sun, the edges start cracking — especially along the bulkhead and tailgate lip. Once a crack forms, water gets underneath and rust follows.

2. The Liner Shifts When You Load

If your drop-in moves when you slide cargo in, the mounting clips are worn. That movement creates abrasion between the liner and the bed surface. Every shift grinds paint off bare steel. You’re generating rust every time you load the truck.

3. Water Pools Underneath

Pull up a corner of your liner and look. If you see standing water, discoloration, or soft spots on the bed floor, moisture has been sitting there for months. A spray-on coating bonds directly to bare metal — there’s no gap for water to hide in.

4. Cargo Slides Around

Smooth plastic offers almost no grip. If you’re using ratchet straps and bungee cords for every load, you’re compensating for a liner that isn’t doing its job. A textured spray-on coating grips cargo without straps for most loads.

5. It’s Faded and Looks Worn

UV exposure degrades plastic over time. If your liner looks chalky, faded, or bleached compared to the rest of the truck, it’s past its useful life. A spray-on bedliner is UV-stable and color-matched — it looks as good at year ten as it does at year one.

What to Do Next

If any of these sound familiar, request a quote for a spray-on replacement. We remove the old liner, prep the bed down to bare metal, and spray a permanent coating that’s warrantied for life. Most installs take a single day.
